Public Statements on
Political Stances

As an intern for U.K. Member of Parliament Ben Howlett, I was responsible for writing 37 public statements representing Howlett's political stances.  When a controversial topic arose in the United Kingdom, I worked with Howlett to properly represent and strategically write his position on the controversial topic. The statements I wrote were placed on his government and campaign websites.

The document to the left showcases four public statements I wrote on Howlett's behalf.  These public statements were specifically on the topics of animal welfare, elderly services, bees, and Battersea cats and dogs.

Summary Reports on
Bills and Legislation

As an intern for U.K. Member of Parliament Ben Howlett, I helped condense legislation into summary reports.  More specifically, I condensed important legislation like the 96-page Bus Services Bill and the 103-page Housing White Paper into 3-page summary reports.  These summary reports were used personally by Howlett to write speeches for the House of Commons floor.

The document to the right showcases one summary report I wrote on Howlett's behalf.  This 3-page report summarized the 96-page Bus Services Bill, now known as the U.K. Bus Services Act 2017.

Proposed Legislation

The North Carolina Student Legislature is a bipartisan nonprofit organization where university delegations offer students the opportunity to draft and debate state legislation.  If successfully passed by the state student body, the legislation is then passed to the North Carolina State Legislature where approximately 40% of student ideas are converted into state law.

As the oldest delegate of the North Carolina Student Legislature, I have drafted several important pieces of legislation on topics ranging from rape to the death penalty to animal euthanasia.

The document to the right showcases my proposed legislation on changing the North Carolina state definition of "rape" to be more inclusive of all genders.  It is currently being considered in the State Legislature.

As an Elon University nominee for the $30,000 Truman Fellowship, I was asked to draft a public policy proposal.  Since I plan to pursue public and government affairs and largely prioritize civic engagement, I decided to focus on the lack of communication and transparency surrounding government activities.  Although I developed this proposal for my Truman application, I plan to continue forward with this proposal and prioritize government communication and transparency in my future work.  I hope to create many more public policy proposals going forward.

The document to the left showcases my public policy proposal regarding the federal enforcement of the 2010 Plain Writing Act.
